Falstaff

An exceptional duo for a surprising Falstaff. For Albertazzi this is his 13th representation of Shakespeare. His 14th, actually, if you consider a film with Michael Simon. For Gigi Proietti it's his first time with Albertazzi. His production is ready to experiment. In fact, Albertazzi's words are:" I like Gigi and I like his vitality and imagination. We will play at doing theatre with the merry wives of Windsor". The Merry Wives of Windsor (1601) will not be an 'inferior' Falstaff. Why Falstaff? Albertazzi replies: " the lightness of joking and Falstaff's philosophy, his full-bodied roundness and epicurism seduced me". This is how Albertazzi meets up with Shakespeare again. This is his new theatrical challenge in his usual unconquerable style. He does so with an exceptional cast. Angelo Dallagiacoma is the author of the translation and adaptation of the original text. Albertazzi had already worked with him in Hamlet many years ago. Giorgio Albertazzi and Gigi Proietti have co-operated on this new Falstaff that promises to leave an imprint.
